RSS Best way to allow edit of original post but not replies?

For our classified advert threads, the advertisers need to be able to edit their ads - I.e. the first post - but people replying should not be able to edit their posts because then they could change their offers and gazzump others.
There is no ability to set permissions to achieve this in core Xenforo.
How would you achieve this?
The current permission logic labels all posts in a thread as posts and does not differentiate between the first post and replies.
